I am still working on the cross stitched palm tree that I designed by drawing an outline directly on aida cloth. This is not a counted cross stitch design, but a following the drawing design. In the photos and video you can see the progression I have made on this project.
Cross Stitching The Palm Tree
The other day I started the process of cross stitching the branches on the palm trees I drew on a piece of aida cloth. First, I cross stitched in the darker portions of the branches with a dark green color of coton thread.
This video illustrates how the dark and light portions of the branches looked as I continued cross stitching these on the aida cloth.
Cross Stitching The Palm Tree Branches
Drawing a picture directly on the aida cloth was more interesting to me because I did not want to sit there and plot out a design on graph paper.
In the photo above I am continuing to cross stitch in the darker portions of the palm tree branches with green embroidery floss.
The cross stitching of the branches begins to take shape as I add the lighter portions.
