T Is For Making A Turkey Decoration For Thanksgiving

Today the letter T is for making a turkey decoration for Thanksgiving.

Trace around your hand with a pencil.
Begin coloring the fingers, which will be the feathers on the turkey.  .
Create a pattern by coloring the fingers on your traced hand.  Each finger will be a feather on the turkey.
Continue coloring each of the “feathers” on the turkey.
Do not forget to draw the eye, the side wing, the beak, and the wattle on the turkey.
The turkey is looking very nice here.
All the fingers/feathers of the turkey have been colored in.
Gobble, gobble Mr. Turkey.
You will make a creative letter/card Mr. Turkey.
Yet another picture of Mr. Turkey.
Cut out the tracing of Mr.Turkey.

Make your own turkey decoration for Thanksgiving by tracing around your hand on a sheet of paper. Here is the turkey decoration I created by tracing around my own hand. I am going to send this turkey decoration as a little letter to a friend.

S Is For Shading In The Sky

So during this A to Z Challenge I have been talking about aspects of my art projects in ABC order, but I am apt to talk about certain drawings more than once.  Today the letter is S is for shading in the sky, and the sky, or rather background for this drawing was created with a neon red Prismacolor pencil.  This is an abstract and impressionist drawing that I created of the idea of Irina the cat standing next to a flower that is towering over her, so the colors are what I want these to be.

One of my favorite aspects of drawing with colored pencils is shading in the sky, or the background of an illustration.  I love the rich hue that Prismacolor pencils create, even though I do use other colored pencils that are in my supplies.  If I had an unlimited amount of money I would just Prismacolor pencils, but I still am using up a few of my Crayola colored pencils, which also do a good job.

So for this illustration I like to imagine Irina is perhaps standing underneath a pink sunset, or so my imagination has lead me to believe.  The amazing  thing about art is we can create whatever image we like, and it does not always have to follow the rules.

Coloring in the pink sky above Irina's head.

I am continuing to shade in the sky during this phase of the drawing.

Now the sky above Irina's head is completely colored in.

For other letters I shall be talking about other aspects of this illustration, so please stay tuned.

R Is For Painting The View From The Rim of The World Highway

My painting of the view from the Rim of the World Highway.

I created a painting of the view from the Rim of the World Highway using oil paints.

Here is the first part of the painting.

This is the second part of my painting the view from the Rim.

This video illustrates how the completed painting of the view from the Rim of the World Highway turned out.  I liked the rock formation in the foreground, and there is just something beautiful about looking at boulders.  Do you enjoy oil painting?
