Using Fabric Markers To Draw Palm Trees On Shoes

Buying shoes with artwork on these can be quite expensive, so why not make your own pair? Anyone who knows me will recall my affinity for palm trees, so yesterday I decided to draw a picture of palm trees on my canvas shoes. I went to Target to pick up a pair of white canvas shoes, and then I primed my fabric markers for action.  The great thing about this craft is that it cost me last than twenty dollars for both the canvas shoes and fabric markers, which I think is a pretty good deal when it comes to fashion.

Drawing A Palm Tree On The Vamp of The Shoe

Drawing Palm Trees On The Back of Shoe
Three small palm trees were drawn on the heel counter of the canvas shoe.

Below are several pictures I took of the shoes after I had finished adding all the palm trees and blue sky.

After the shoes sat for a few hours, and I relaced the pair and wore these out and about. I think the shoes actually look much better in the light of day then these did the night before.  Creating designs on canvas shoes with markers is a lot easier, and less messy than fabric paint.  However, fabric paint would also be a fun medium to use on canvas shoes since it would create textures that fabric markers cannot.  Make sure to follow all the directions on the box of your fabric markers before adding designs to a pair of shoes.

Making A Red, White, And Blue Card For The Fourth of July

Today is the Fourth of July, so I decided to make a card to celebrate the holiday. I am into creating art projects and making crafts, so that is what I like to do around a holiday. Also, I think it is possible to make your own holiday themed crafts rather than running out to the store and spending money. Did you ever consider having your kids make some decorative crafts with supplies you already have lying in some closet around the house? This is a great way to save money rather than buying decorations that you might never use again.

First I drew a star in the center of the quarter-fold card.

I decided to repaint the white stripes since a few of these had cracked paint. The paint still cracked in places, but it was minimized a bit with the second application.
