Outline Cat Drawing On A Canvas Board

Today I created an outline cat drawing on a canvas board. This drawing will be the “road map” for the painting I am going to create on this light weight piece of canvas.

I taped the tracing paper over the rough draft sketch of Irina the cat.

I traced the back side of the tracing paper with a violet colored pencil.

The artist tape was used to secure the tracing paper to the canvas board.

I used a black colored pencil to trace over the cat, which helped me to visual track which parts of the composition I had already traced.

I went over the traced image with a colored pencil so it would stand out.

I used the black colored pencil to go over the traced image so it would really stand out. So if you do not want to paint freehand and want a bit of a guideline, I highly recommend using tracing paper to transfer an outline drawing on to canvas.

Drawing A Sunflower With A Dream Catcher

The Sunflower And The Dreamcatcher

The first step of drawing the sunflower was to create an outline sketch.

The dream catcher has been drawn in the sky hanging above the sunflower. Mount Baldy has been sketched into the foreground.
