Finishing The Heart Cross Stitch Design

Yesterday I finally completed the heart cross stitch design on plastic canvas mesh, which took a couple of months to work on. Yes, I did not concentrate on it 24/7, but I felt like I could not work on any other art projects or crafts until I completed this one. This might sound silly to people who surf through hundreds of art projects and crafts in the same amount of time, but I am a one project kind of person, and I find I like to finish things rather than abandoning projects.  I still have a beautiful cross stitched bird that I started on aida cloth twenty years ago, but I abandoned the project because my mom pointed out I needed to finish a research paper for my tenth grade English class.  Over the years I lost the pattern to this piece, and  it still bothers me to this day I have never finished it. So these days I am endeavoring to finish every project that I start, and I never want to leave one undone.  For this project I double cross stitched each row so the composition would be opaque when held up to the light, which definitely took a bit more time than just cross stitching once across each row once.

Here I am continuing to add the red background to the design.

  1. I love this! I’m a huge fan of cross stitch and *still* working on my lifetime project – a stitched version of the Mona Lisa (I’m determined to finish it eventually!) Lots of luck with the A-Z challenge, I look forward to popping back here!

    1. I think it is amazing when people spend years working on a project. I heard there is a lady in China who made an exquisite village scene and cross stitched it y hand. You should google it because it is quite amazing. I will look forward to visiting your blog during the challenge as well.
