Last week I added the finishing touches to the Pinnacles painting, which are boulder laden hills that are located in the San Bernardino Mountains. I lightened the grassy areas around the boulders, and redefined the chaparral bushes.
I signed the painting in the bottom right hand corner, and now it feels complete.
The slideshow above illustrates what the painting looked like from start to finish.
Yesterday I started adding more details to the Pinnacles painting by blending yellow paint into the verdant hills surrounding the boulders. The darker grass I had originally painted around the boulders made these appear flat, and punching up the green color helped the boulders to show up more in the painting. Thus far I am liking the effect, but I have more stuff to do with the painting.
The video illustrates what the painting looked like as I began to blend in the green paint.
I started out by blending the yellow paint into the top of the painting. Next, I continued to work down towards the bottom portion.
The boulders are more noticeable as I add more yellow to the grass.
Towards the end of painting I noticed the rocks were standing out more, but there is still much more work to do.
