S Is For Shading In The Sky

So during this A to Z Challenge I have been talking about aspects of my art projects in ABC order, but I am apt to talk about certain drawings more than once.  Today the letter is S is for shading in the sky, and the sky, or rather background for this drawing was created with a neon red Prismacolor pencil.  This is an abstract and impressionist drawing that I created of the idea of Irina the cat standing next to a flower that is towering over her, so the colors are what I want these to be.

One of my favorite aspects of drawing with colored pencils is shading in the sky, or the background of an illustration.  I love the rich hue that Prismacolor pencils create, even though I do use other colored pencils that are in my supplies.  If I had an unlimited amount of money I would just Prismacolor pencils, but I still am using up a few of my Crayola colored pencils, which also do a good job.

So for this illustration I like to imagine Irina is perhaps standing underneath a pink sunset, or so my imagination has lead me to believe.  The amazing  thing about art is we can create whatever image we like, and it does not always have to follow the rules.

For other letters I shall be talking about other aspects of this illustration, so please stay tuned.
